GHRH Analog · FDA-Studied for Visceral Adiposity
GHRH analog. Studied in visceral adipose tissue and GH secretion models.
Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH analog (trans-3-hexenoic acid-modified) with FDA approval for HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Phase 3 data demonstrated significant visceral adipose tissue (VAT) reduction and improved metabolic markers. As a GHRH analog, it stimulates endogenous GH release from the pituitary rather than providing exogenous GH directly.
Store lyophilized at -20°C. Reconstituted: 2–8°C, use within 4–6 weeks.
Tesamorelin is a stabilised synthetic analogue of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-44). It binds the GHRH receptor in the pituitary and triggers pulsatile release of the body's own growth hormone, which raises IGF-1. An N-terminal modification protects it from rapid enzymatic breakdown, giving a reported plasma half-life of about 26 minutes versus a couple of minutes for native GHRH.
Because it works upstream of the pituitary rather than replacing growth hormone directly, the IGF-1 feedback loop stays intact. Its best-known research finding is selective reduction of visceral adipose tissue in the Phase 3 trials that led to its 2010 FDA approval as Egrifta for HIV-associated lipodystrophy.
