Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide (Glu-Cys-Gly) and the most abundant intracellular antioxidant in human cells. It participates in xenobiotic detoxification via glutathione S-transferase conjugation, neutralizes reactive oxygen species (ROS), regenerates vitamins C and E, and supports immune function. Injectable glutathione bypasses the poor oral bioavailability of the intact molecule.
Store lyophilized at -20°C. Light-sensitive. Reconstituted: 2–8°C, use within 24–48 hours.
Glutathione is a tripeptide of glycine, cysteine and glutamate made by every cell, with the highest concentrations in the liver. It is the body's principal antioxidant: the thiol group on its cysteine donates an electron to neutralise reactive oxygen species.
It is also the required cofactor for Phase II liver detoxification, binding the reactive by-products of drug and toxin metabolism so they can be cleared. The ratio of reduced to oxidised glutathione (GSH to GSSG) is one of the most direct research markers of cellular redox state.
